My brother, Joe Polish, played an essential role in my journey. (Yes, he's really my brother, the story about our different last names is in the book).
In the early 1990s, Joe was trying to grow his failing carpet cleaning business, and I was cleaning carpets, delivering pizzas, and pursuing an acting career.
Joe had been spending money buying some pretty out-of-the-box marketing materials, one of which was the Gary Halbert newsletter.
He insisted I read it, and man, oh man...it blew my mind.
Joe and I both started using some of these outrageous tips and started having real success with our efforts.
I got acting gigs, did an HBO movie, and got a professional theatre contract out of state.
While I was gone, Joe’s business started taking off and he began teaching other carpet cleaners how to market.
Within a year he was developing an info-marketing business.
Due to personal circumstances in my life, I had to put my acting career on hold for a while, and I “temporarily” started working with my brother in his new information marketing business called Piranha Marketing.
Long story short…that “temporary” decision changed my life.
Copywriting and marketing were about to undergo a revolution.
Generation X came to the forefront, and the internet was growing in popularity.
Marketing campaigns soon walked the tightrope between print, TV, radio, and the internet.
By being involved with building Piranha Marketing, I met great copywriters and marketers, like Dan Kennedy and Gary Halbert, and eventually worked with them.

I literally got my start in copywriting from some of the masters of copywriting.
I devoured everything I could get my hands on to make my copywriting skills better.
In 1998 while I was still serving as Vice President of Piranha Marketing, Inc. I started taking private clients because I was getting so many requests from people to write copy.
In 2000, I parted ways with Piranha to start my own agency and to date, I have used the methods and techniques I learned to write pieces of copy that have generated…
